Paper Buttons

The challenge from Just Us Girls this week was make your own paper buttons.  They provided this tutorial.  I love trying new things and am especially excited about how you can make shaped buttons using paper punches or even the Cricut.  For this card I used Close To My Heart's "Buttoned Together" stamp set that I just got in the mail (retired set I believe but a friend sold it to me).  I also used the True Happiness Stamp Set and cut out two of the trees to make paper buttons that would fit directly over the stamped tree image!  That is possibly my most favorite thing about making your own buttons!  You can do almost any image you stamp and turn it into a button.  On some of my buttons I used the Rock and Roll Technique to give them a blue/green look!
First I stamped onto Lagoon Ink.

Then I rolled the stamp, being careful to only get the outside edges, into Olive Ink.

Resulting in the two toned stamped look!  Aren't they beautiful :-)

I did not have the Crystal Effects that they recommended in the tutorial so instead I used Liquid Glass (yet another way to use this amazing product!).  I am having a class using Liquid Glass on Monday, July 18th from 7-9.  This is one of the things I am going to teach.  The class is FREE, contact me if you are interested in coming.

First I made button holes using the piercing tool kit.  I also used this to make the holes again after the liquid glass was completely dried.

Next I completely covered the paper buttons with liquid glass.  On some of them I cut several layers of circles out, glued them together and then covered it with liquid glass.  On the rest I just did one layer.

Here you can see how I covered two of the stamped trees with the liquid glass to make "buttons" out of the treetops.

Then I cut them out.
Some close up photos of my buttons on the card.

I also used the sketch from the Mojo Monday challenge to make this card.  I am pressed for time with three ages 4 and younger in my home so I have to combine challenges.

The final result - My take on the sketch and paper buttons.
