Happy Family Summer Zoo Trip

We decided to participate in the Happy Family Movement's Summer Bucket List as a family.  So often we have great ideas of activities or projects we want to try with the kids and we will say "let's do that this summer".  Summer comes and goes and we forget to do things.  So this year we wrote it all down on fun bright cards in our diningroom.

For one of our activities we went to the Philadelphia Zoo!  The kids had a blast!  Its a good thing to because the next day, June 1st to be exact, I fell and broke my ankle in several places, tore some ligaments and bruised tendons.  I am determined to make this summer list work as much as I can even if I have to make "glow cones" from the sofa - lol

I got five free digital layouts with Studio J because I'm going to convention this year in Dallas - at least I hope I'm going!  So I used two of the layouts to document our trip to the zoo.  Here is the first layout

Initial Set up for this layout:   Select Lucky paper kit, Portrait Collection pattern and kit mix 5

Studio J Tip:  Place the circle from medium accent and crop in half.  Copy and paste to create a scallop border along the blue ribbon.  So cool!  You can do this with any of the many digital stickers to make your pages uniquely your own :)

Studio J Tip:  To make a unique embellishment create a journal box, select "none" for background and type an uppercase "O" in Cobbler font sized at 113.  Take any of the small accents and place it inside the "O"

I do like that even with a broken ankle I can get some digital pages done :)  If you want to check out
Studio J you can do try it out for FREE and I'd be happy to answer any questions.  You do need to set up an account but you don't have to pay a thing to play around with it - I love that I went on the trip with the kids and less than a week later I had the photos on pages and in my scrapbook!

Check out Happy Family Movement so see what others are doing this summer!  Do you have any summer family plans?  Thanks for stopping by - I'll show the other page from our zoo trip tomorrow!

Summer Celebration

In Thursday's SEM celebration blog hop I mentioned that I am combining Ali Edwards Summer Manifesto with the summer "bucket" list blog challenge over at The Happy Family Movement.

Here is our list

I used my copic markers to jaz things up a bit and make my list look more like summer - I mean come on - this is me we are talking about :)  I have do draw or scrapbook something - speaking of which I am super duper excited to scrapbook this summer now that we have a list to actually follow . . . yeah I get excited about scrapbooking and lists I'm that kind of person.

So on our list you will find:
  • Go tent camping in the backyard
  • Play in the creek on Sunday afternoons
  • Go visit local parks and fish
  • Have a picnic at the pool
  • Go to the zoo
  • Visit Nana and Pop-Pop
  • Make smores and roast hot dogs over a campfire in the back yard
  • Catch lightning bugs
  • Make sandcastles at the beach
  • Pick peaches, blueberries, cherries, apples (when in season)
  • Have a giant water fight (use hose, balloons, water guns, etc.)
  • Go miniature golfing
  • Go to the $ movies and get popcorn
  • Visit Great Nana and Great Pop-Pop
  • Go swimming at different pools
  • Get ice cream cones
  • Watch a movie outside in the backyard or to a drive in or a movie in the park
  • Go visit Grandma and Grandpa
  • Go to Port Discovery and Baltimore Inner Harbor
  • Go to Longwood Gardens to see the Giant Tree Houses
  • Watch fireworks
  • Go to a baseball game
  • Go bowling

We have a few other things on our list but the boys helped to make this one - funny because visiting people was the thing they added.  They just love to be with people they love - come to think of it so do I :)
Have a great summer whatever you do - and look for the blessings in your every day life - I'm going to be looking for them in my life this summer as well :)
