Feature a Friend {on Friday}

Welcome back to another Feature a Friend {on Friday}!  Today's guest is Tasnim Ahmed from
Cards and Bookmarks Blog.  I met this talented woman through
Runway Inspired Challenge blog (love this blog) and was thrilled when she agreed to guest post for us . . . so without further ado here is Tasnim

Hello! I am very pleased to be guest posting today for Elizabeth! I decided to create a card using one of my favorite techniques; inking with a sponge applicator. I paired it with gold embossing to add a bit of glamour :)

Here is the card:
Congratulation

Ombre is another technique that I like, so I inked my panel to create that look.

Notice that the flowers and leaves are in reverse Ombre to that of the panel.

Watch the video to see how I made it:

I had fun creating this card. Thank you Elizabeth for having me! --

Thank you Tasnim for sharing your talents with us!  I've been looking for an idea to use my
  Hello Tweety stamp set and I think this would work perfectly with the swirls and the butterfly :)   Hope you all have a creative weekend :)

Feature a Friend {on Friday}

Our Friend this week is Leslie from The Memory Nest.  She is a fabulously creative gal that I met through Linked In and am thrilled to have her post today a scrapbook page using Close To My Heart's flip flaps!  So here is Leslie . . .

The two page Easter layout was fun to create with all the springy papers and embellishments.

A few months back, I learned about a new product by Close to My Heart called Flip Flaps.

 Flip Flaps come in many different sizes and make it easy to include multiple pictures on a layout.  I used a 4x6 Flip Flap on my page, which allowed me to include two extra pictures.  The Flip Flap has an adhesive strip that attaches to the outside of the page protector.

The papers used to create this layout are from the We R Memory Keepers Simply Spring Collection: Blossoms, Basket, Raindrop, Expressions, the Embellishment Stickers and the Spring Flings Frame.  Happy Spring and Happy Scrapping!

 Thank you so much Leslie!  Thanks to everyone for stopping by both Leslie and I appreciate your comments and encouragement!  Have a Fabulous Friday :)

Feature a Friend {on Friday}

Welcome back to another Friday and another Feature a Friend!  I am so excited by all the talent out there and the inspiration I get from new friends.  Today's guest is
Virginia Lu from Yes, Virginia!  If you have not check out her blog you really should - she does amazingly beautiful cards!

Hello, this is Virginia Lu! I am so honored to be featured here in Elizabeth’s blog today. I am sharing two cards using a mask that I create with Haxagon diecut. Recently I am quite intrigued with plastic masks ( costs around $4 each) that are making presences in all the on-line stores! That gave me the idea of make my own masks.  Basically we can make good use of our own existing diecut and create a customised mask! (Elizabeth here:  I use my cricut cartridge pieces to do this too)
Here is the step-by-step tutorial

Here are the two cards that I create with the background

Card #1—
After the masking, I added a few tiny droplets of pink splatter (mixture of Worn Lipstick and water). A sentiment and some stitching (the black straight line on top) and faux stitching ( top and bottom corner, SRM Stitching sticker) were added. With the flower embellishment and sequins, this card is complete!

Card #2
With a colorful background, I kept the design simple. With a pop-up owl, stamped text and sentiment and jute, this card was very easy and fun to create.

I hope this tutorial inspire you to get your diecuts out and create your own mask. Use the mask for card-making and scrapbooking or any craft projects! You can use circles, ovals, scalloped squares, hexagons...any diecut that you that you already have will do! Sky is the limit! Thank you, Elizabeth, for inviting me to share my love of card-making.

I loved this technique so much I decided to try my own hand at it - here is a card I made using the negatives from a sheet of numbers I cut out with my cricut.  I created table number cards for an event this week and had the sheet left over, so here is my card . . .

Thank you so much Virginia for sharing your inspiration with us!  Blessed to have met you - you are welcome back anytime!

Please head over to Virginia's blog and thank her for sharing with us - leave a comment here too :)  We love hearing from you!

Happy Friday!
