Hi there, and thanks so much for stopping by today. My name is Sherri Funk, and I'll be your guest for the day. I am a stay at home mother of three girls, ages 9-12. I love to sing, watch football, spend weekends at the lake, Tap Dance, eat sushi, get lost in a good book, and other things in addition to scrapping. The sudden loss of my mother over 11 years ago, reinforced to me the importance of memory keeping. In my opinion, there is no single, better way to preserve a family's history for future generations than scrapping.
It's been a long, long time since I've made cards. Funny thing is that, that's how I started scrapbooking. Years ago my sister-in-law began selling scrappy product. She wanted me to host a party to help her get started. I was pretty set on the fact that I would not be getting into scrapping anytime soon (time, cost, too many hobbies, etc), but thought I'd help her out, and at least buys some pens and paper since I made cards. Needless to say things changed. As I began scrapping more, and meeting more advanced card makers I pretty much stopped making cards all together. I was too intimidated by others' amazing creations, and began to see my own creation as sub-standard. I simply put the craft aside and carried on with scrapping. Fast forward to a couple of months ago when I won this stamp set from my friend, fellow DT member at Scrapping Everyday Miracles, and your resident blogger Elizabeth.
Set C1467 - Spring |
I managed to create 4 cards one afternoon.
I beg your apologies for some of the photos. All you stampers, I'm sure, have figured out how to photograph your creations properly. I wasn't prepared for how one dimensional they show up. Therefore, some photos simply don't do the card justice. Like this one for example.
(rest your mouse over each image to see a list of products used)
If you enlarge the photo you may be better able to see the embossed sentiment. I used the Remember This Day stamp and embossed it with Powder Blue Zing right beside the butterflies. There are also two teeny tiny hearts superimposed on the red flower in the patterned paper in the bottom left hand corner. You'll just have to trust me that this looks better in person.
This next card I love. I just love how rich, and clean StazOn ink is. I used that same sentiment stamp and repeated it all over the card in nice straight lines, making it look like patterned paper. I then fussy cut 3 vellum butterflies, and layered them over top.
I used the same technique on this one with the tiny heart stamp.
And how cute is that teeny tiny butterfly?! |
I really like the way this one turned out. Have you noticed the butterfly theme yet? I can't seem to keep from adding them to my projects.
Thanks so much Elizabeth, and Close to My Heart for the wonderful set. As you can see, I've only made a dent in it, there are so many wonderful choices to work with. Hope I've encouraged you to break out your stamps and whip up some cards of your own. If not, perhaps my friend Hilde can. As an extra little surprise today we've decided to join up and do a "twin post". Seeing as we both won the same set, we thought it would be fun to create together. Well not so much together as in the same room, at the same time, seeing as she's over 4000 miles away, but rather in the same week. She is a real sweetheart with a great sense of humour, a heart full of love, and a big shoulder to lean on/cry on when needed. Her style is simple, yet playful with fun little touches throughout. She's my dear friend, and I know she'd appreciate the visit. You can see her fabulous creations with set C1467 at her blog Scoobies Lille Blog. Please leave her some love, and say hi for me.
Before I go I just want to extend a huge thank you to Elizabeth for inviting me to guest for her today. I hope you enjoyed your visit. Feel free to pop by my corner of the blog-o-sphere anytime at: http://faithandscraphappiness.blogspot.ca/
Have a wonderful day!
