Close To My Heart Aug. Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

It is here!  August is a HUGE month for Close To My Heart fans with a brand new Idea Book, new products, beautiful new Artiste Cricut collection, a Super sign on special and new stamp of the month.  I am so excited to share with you over the next few days all the great product that CTMH has introduced!  First let's blog hop shall we?  If you are coming from Georgia's blog you are in the right place!  This is a full circle blog hop but if you want to start at the beginning or find the list of all our blogs this month go on over to Kathleen's blog.

I hope you are enjoying the hop so far.  This is a really fun stamp set titled Baroque Borders and is so perfect for notecards and scrapbook pages alike!

Baroque Borders (set of 5)
You can get this great stamp set one of two ways:
Place a $50 order with your CTMH consultant or on my website here and get this stamp set for only $5
or
Purchase this stamp set from August 1st until August 31st for $17.95

When I first saw this stamp set I immediately thought of wedding!  Wouldn't these made beautiful wedding invitations, thank you cards and programs?  I made these thank you cards using Pear Ink and Crystal Blue Ink.  On Monday night I was at a Ladies Night Out event and a woman saw these cards and said "those are my wedding colors"!  I told her this stamp set would make great and inexpensive handmade wedding invitations for sure!!
Here is the card using Pear Ink - they are Chocolate cardstock cards with a colonial white on the inside for writing.  The sentiment is from the brand new Avonlea Card Workshop on the Go!

Here is another card - same style only with the Crystal Blue Ink.

And the cards together.  I was so disappointed because my little helper (she is only two and so wants to do stamping with her Mama) got green ink smudges on my blue cards.  However, I loved the blue one so I had to show them to you green ink smudges and all :)

Now for some celebrating :)  I am hosting a blog party from August 1st until August 10th - celebrating one year blogging, one year with CTMH and the brand new Idea Book release!  So come back every day to view a new item, projects and giveaways!  We will end with a HUGE celebration and lots of fun giveaways on August 10th both on my blog and in my home :)  If you are local join me for a Fun crafting night with free make and takes (scrapbook page, card or 3D item - your choice)!  This is a girls night out so bring along your girlfriends for an additional entry into the door prize giveaways!  If you are not local you can still join us for the fun with on-line only specials, prizes and giveaways!  It is going to be a fun fun night!!

Now you can hop on over to Lori's blog and see what she made with this great stamp set!

I have a pre-order special going on for the Cricut Artiste collection until midnight tonight.  Pre-order with me and get FREE shipping, FREE Idea Book and an additional FREE stamp set - all gifts from me!

Feature a Friend {on Friday}

Welcome to Feature a Friend {on Friday}!  Today's guest is a fellow design team member over at Scrapping Everyday Miracles.  More than that she has become a dear friend and prayer partner and I am thankful that God has brought her into my life.  I'm super excited to introduce you to Sherri Funk - one super talented crafter - and blogger over at http://faithandscraphappiness.blogspot.ca/

___________________________________
Hi there, and thanks so much for stopping by today.  My name is Sherri Funk, and I'll be your guest for the day.  I am a stay at home mother of three girls, ages 9-12.  I love to sing, watch football, spend weekends at the lake, Tap Dance, eat sushi, get lost in a good book, and other things in addition to scrapping.  The sudden loss of my mother over 11 years ago, reinforced to me the importance of memory keeping.  In my opinion, there is no single, better way to preserve a family's history for future generations than scrapping.

It's been a long, long time since I've made cards.  Funny thing is that, that's how I started scrapbooking.  Years ago my sister-in-law began selling scrappy product.  She wanted me to host a party to help her get started.  I was pretty set on the fact that I would not be getting into scrapping anytime soon (time, cost, too many hobbies, etc), but thought I'd help her out, and at least buys some pens and paper since I made cards.  Needless to say things changed.  As I began scrapping more, and meeting more advanced card makers I pretty much stopped making cards all together.  I was too intimidated by others' amazing creations, and began to see my own  creation as sub-standard.  I simply put the craft aside and carried on with scrapping.  Fast forward to a couple of months ago when I won this stamp set from my friend, fellow DT member at Scrapping Everyday Miracles, and your resident blogger Elizabeth.
Set C1467 - Spring
I thought it would be such a waste to just let them sit there untouched, and couldn't bring myself to just give them away or hand them down to my kids.  My friend Hilde also won the same set (Elizabeth is sweet like that, and offered up two sets as a prize).  All those things combined left only one option.  Hunker down, get over myself, and make some cards.

I managed to create 4 cards one afternoon.
I beg your apologies for some of the photos.  All you stampers, I'm sure, have figured out how to photograph your creations properly.  I wasn't prepared for how one dimensional they show up.  Therefore, some photos simply don't do the card justice.  Like this one for example.

(rest your mouse over each image to see a list of products used)
If you enlarge the photo you may be better able to see the embossed sentiment.  I used the Remember This Day stamp and embossed it with Powder Blue Zing right beside the butterflies. There are also two teeny tiny hearts superimposed on the red flower in the patterned paper in the bottom left hand corner.  You'll just have to trust me that this looks better in person.

This next card I love.  I just love how rich, and clean StazOn ink is.  I used that same sentiment stamp and repeated it all over the card in nice straight lines, making it look like patterned paper.  I then fussy cut 3 vellum butterflies, and layered  them over top.

I used the same technique on this one with the tiny heart stamp.
And how cute is that teeny tiny butterfly?!
More embossing on this last one.  As soon as I saw that rose in the set I knew I wanted to create an embossed background with it using tone on tone.
I really like the way this one turned out.  Have you noticed the butterfly theme yet?  I can't seem to keep from adding them to my projects.

Thanks so much Elizabeth, and Close to My Heart for the wonderful set.  As you can see, I've only made a dent in it, there are so many wonderful choices to work with.  Hope I've encouraged you to break out your stamps and whip up some cards of your own.  If not, perhaps my friend Hilde can.  As an extra little surprise today we've decided to join up and do a "twin post".  Seeing as we both won the same set, we thought it would be fun to create together.  Well not so much together as in the same room, at the same time, seeing as she's over 4000 miles away, but rather in the same week.  She is a real sweetheart with a great sense of humour, a heart full of love, and a big shoulder to lean on/cry on when needed.  Her style is simple, yet playful  with fun little touches throughout.  She's my dear friend, and I know she'd appreciate the visit.  You can see her fabulous creations with set C1467 at her blog Scoobies Lille Blog.  Please leave her some love, and say hi for me.

Before I go I just want to extend a huge thank you to Elizabeth for inviting me to guest for her today.  I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Feel free to pop by my corner of the blog-o-sphere anytime at: http://faithandscraphappiness.blogspot.ca/

Have a wonderful day!

Thank you Sherri for a great project and for being willing to share your talent with us :)  Stop on over and say hi to Sherri and be sure to thank her for sharing this project with us.  Take a minute and check out Hilde's creations as well - I hope to have Hilde guest post over here sometime this fall!

A few reminders for you:

A Big Close To My Heart Thank You!!

I just wanted to give you all an update on convention and a few awards that I received.  I was shocked to get the top recruits for a new consultant and was super excited!  If you would like to join my award winning team :) you will find answers to commonly asked questions and the brand new kit available now for only $49!  I'd love to have you!!

The second award I got was rising star 2012 and you'll see the video they put together here . . .

I was very honored - especially because one of the photos right into the video is of me with my grandfather who just passed away in March (his funeral was on my birthday).  This was a very special award and I am so grateful for Close To My Heart, Jeanette Lynton, and the many family and friends who made this possible.  I also know that every good and perfect gift is from above coming down from my Heavenly Father who does not change like the shifting shadows!

Finally I wanted to share with you all a gift!  I had the honor of sitting in and listening to Stacy Jullian!  If you know me even a little bit you know that Simple Scrapbooks magazine has been my all time favorite go to for scrapbook designs and I was heart broken when it went out of publication.  I was thrilled to feature Lain from Simple Scrapbooks as a guest post on Feature a Friend {on Friday}.  So imagine my excitement when I learned that the speaker for the CTMH convention was Stacy!  Thrilled beyond belief :)  Stacy's speech was very inspiring and I was lifted of the two things that kill creativity: Guilt and Obligation!  Stacy shared this video with us all

At the end of her time with us Stacy gave us a gift A FREE class with her over at Big Picture Classes.  The best news?  She said we could share this with anyone!  I am so thankful for each and everyone of you and since Stacy said "the fine print: Please share this promo code with as many people as possible!"  I'm sharing it with you. Just head on over to Stacy's class Finish Line and enter the promo code CTMH.  What you need for this class . . .

  • 45 pictures
  • 4 hours
  • 5 sheets of pattern paper
  • 50 black embellishments
  • 6x6 album
  • 10 sheets protectors
  • paper trimmer
  • small scissors
  • fast adhesive

What you get . . . A completed scrapbook and the wonderful sense of satisfaction that your stories are being told!  The story you are best qualified to tell is your own :)

This code expires December 31, 2013 so head on over and enjoy!

Finally, I wanted to share a photo of a super cute project that you can make with the brand new Artiste cricut collection!  Don't forget I'm taking pre-orders.  Head on over to this post for all the details!  With the Pre-order you get Free shipping, Free Idea Book and Free additional stamp set that coordinates with the new cartridge!  Pre-order special ends July 31st.

Thanks for stopping by :)
