Cooking with Cricut

Welcome to the Purple, Green & Sketch Cooking with Cricut Challenge!  This is my first time as a member of the design team and I am so excited to share with you my projects.  Saturday, October 23rd is Mother-in-law day so send something nice to your MIL and let her know how much you appreciate her (just the fact that she birthed and raised your spouse is a great reason to send a thank you card :) )!  My Mama taught me at a young age that her MIL was her "mother in love"
and so that is how I think of my own MIL.

I made two projects to share with you.  The first is a card for my Mother-in-love and her favorite color is purple so this worked out perfectly!!

I used this sketch

and made this card

The next project was a two page scrapbook layout using this sketch

Here is a photo of my layout

I used the Art Philosophy Cartridge from Close To My Heart to cut out the "postage stamp" shape behind the four matted photos, the flowers, and the purple shape above the "Family" sentiment.  I love that I can cut out the flowers with this cartridge first and then just stamp the image onto the flower instead of having to stamp the image first and then cut out the flowers by hand!
Here you can see how the stamp (because it is clear!) is so easy to line up with the image already cut out with the cricut cartridge!

And the stamped image perfectly lines up!

I'd love to share my story behind these projects.  My one aunt is only four years older than I am and so I am as close to her as I am to my cousins.  I also lived with her for two years in college and she is a very close friend.  A little over a year ago both her mother-in-love and my mother-in-love were diagnosed with cancer.  They began treatment right away with Chemo.  My MIL has had a great recovery, had surgery  and is gaining back her strength.  She began radiation treatments on Monday and we are beginning to see the light at the end of this tunnel!  Praise the Lord!

My dear, sweet aunt is not experiencing the same kind of joy.  Just last week they had to call hospice in for her MIL and we have shed quite a few tears at the way the Lord has seen fit to answer our prayers.  She will soon be without any pain and home with her Savior.  Praise the Lord!

The card is for my MIL.  I made this layout for my aunt.  She has three girls and just gave birth to a baby boy three weeks ago.  I wanted her to have something to keep her photos of her MIL with her children - a way to beautifully display these memories.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and for stopping by!  I'd love it if you would keep my family, my MIL, my aunt and her MIL and precious children in your thoughts and prayers.
